How much does it cost to sell on eBay?

Starting Oct 1, 2024, it is free to sell for UK-based private sellers. Sellers do not pay transaction fees when the item sells. This applies to all categories, except motors (Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles listings).
You can list up to 300 items for free each month; after that, you'll pay 35p per listing. You may incur additional fees if you add optional upgrades to your listing, or if an item sells or ships to a buyer in a different country. Learn more about fees. - opens in new window or tab.

What’s the best way to send my item?

When listing an item, you can offer collection in person and/or delivery by a carrier of your choice. You could also choose to use Simple Delivery and let eBay handle everything for you.

Can I offer collection in person as an option for buyers?

Yes! Local selling and buying is an important part of eBay. In fact, buyers can search for items with collection as an option. When creating your listing, you can offer 'collection in person'. Your buyer is then alerted during checkout if the item is collection only or if they have a choice between collection and delivery. Once the buyer pays, their confirmation email will include a collection code. Both seller and buyer are instructed to establish contact and arrange a time and place to meet, inspect the item, and exchange the collection code to complete the transaction. How much will it cost to post my item?

We provide a number of discounted delivery options through partnerships with major couriers. Consider building the postage cost into the item’s price, to appeal to buyers who are looking for free delivery.

How will the buyer pay for my item?

Buyers can use a variety of payment methods such as credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and PayPal Credit. From Oct 16th, they can also pay with their eBay balance.

How should I choose my listing price?

For most items, we can provide a price recommendation for you based on recently sold, similar items. How you price your item can depend on how you prefer to sell it—Auction or Buy It now. Choose a lower starting price for auctions to create more interest. Buyers will make you offers that you can accept or decline with Best Offer.

When are my funds available to use or withdraw?

Once the buyer’s order is confirmed, your funds will be available in your balance to shop on eBay, cover your selling needs (such as promote listings or purchase delivery labels), or to withdraw from your eBay balance, typically within 2 business days.
